- Title: Mobile Chautari for Female Community Health Volunteers’ (FCHVs’)
- Summary: BBC Media Action Nepal was contracted via the Nepal Health Sector Support Programme 3 (NHSSP 3) from July 2018 to June 2020, to design an innovative mobile phone-based solution that can best support Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs) in their work as health promoters in communities across Nepal. The main objective was to design a digital tool to improve the quality and content of interactions they have in monthly Health Mothers Group (HMG) meetings and their wider interactions with the communities they serve. Mobile Chautari is the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) tool designed by the project which consists of three separate components: a two-day training programme; audio content that is played to communities via a mobile phone and speaker; and printed prompt cards to support FCHVs during their interactions with communities. The video highlights the overview on how Mobile Chautari was developed, its background and its impact in FCHVs communication with the communities. FCHVs’ from different regions shared their experience on using Mobile Chautari and how it is changing the structure and dynamics of HMG meetings. FCHVs feel that Mobile Chautari has enhanced their interaction with their clients.
