Title:My Media Action: Diane Njeru Using Radio to Encourage Better Hygiene in Kenya (Duration 30s)
Summary:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQiLgRPqKgY
BBC Media Action is working with local radio stations to develop and produce programmes that address water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) issues in Kenya.
In many of the project’s target locations - such as the informal settlements of Nairobi – there’s a low awareness of practices such as hand-washing.
In addition to a lack of soap and hand-washing facilities, cultural barriers, such using ashes or soil to wash hands and a reluctance to talk openly about sanitation issues, prevent people from actions beneficial to their health.
