- Title: Ujan Ganger Naiya Series 2 Highlights - Sailing against the Tide (Duration 48s)
- Summary: Ujan Ganger Naiya is a multi-part drama, which exploits the huge popularity of TV in Bangladesh. It aims to improve knowledge - about issues such as the importance of regular antenatal check ups, birth preparedness, safe delivery conditions and essential newborn care – through entertaining the audience with dramatic stories set in a rural village. Set on a riverbank, the show starts with the return of a young girl from school in Dhaka, who catches the eye of two brothers. A decision is made about her future, which will affect everyone in their families. The primary target audience of the whole project remains women of reproductive age but the project also targets the mother-in-law, father-in-law and husband in each family, as well as health workers and those with influence in communities. As part of the project, training for 900 health workers has been rolled out across ten districts. The training aimed to improve the health workers’ communication skills so they can advise and support over 5 million households in how to prepare for the arrival of a baby.
